COMPTIA
A+ certification. CompTIA A+ covers topics such as installing, configuring, diagnosing and preventive maintenance of hardware and software components, as well as networks and soft skills. CompTIA A+ is approved for IAT Level I in U.S. DoD Information Assurance Directive 8570.01-M. With the assistance of the DoD and leading industry organizations, security coverage has been expanded and installation and troubleshooting of mobile devices have been added.
CompTIA Network+ certification is an international industry credential that validates the knowledge of networking professionals with at least 9-12 months of experience in network support or administration or adequate academic training. The exam covers network technologies, installation and configuration, media and topologies, management, and security. Many corporations, including Apple, Canon, Dell, and Ricoh, recommend or require Network+ certification for their IT employees.
CompTIA certifications also serve as the building blocks for more advanced certifications and, in many cases, are used in internal company training programs. For example, Network+ is one of the required elective options in the Apple Consultants Network program for mobility consultants. In addition, CompTIA Network+ which is approved for IAT Level I in U.S. DoD Information Directive 8570.01-M prepares candidates for more advanced CompTIA certifications including CompTIA Security+™, which fulfills the DoD Directive 8570.01-M IAT Level II and IAM Level I requirements. Although not a prerequisite, it is recommended that candidates earn CompTIA A+ before CompTIA Network+ as it demonstrates a broad-based knowledge of PC hardware and software, and related technologies and on-the-job skills.
