At the inception of the university in 2005, three colleges were created among which was the college of natural and applied sciences with four departments namely: biological sciences, chemical sciences, mathematical sciences and physical sciences. All the departments are run as a school.
Hence, materials and academic resources are pooled to give a comprehensive education to the students. The students undergo the curriculum in relevant laboratories needed for their practical experiments. The available Laboratories are for biology, chemistry and physics, all located at the Fola Lasisi Laboratory complex in the school premises. The admission requirements are through the University Matriculation Examination (UME) and Direct Entry i.e. Admission to 200level. Candidates are also taken as transfer students. The details are available in the students’ handbook of the college which also provides information on procedure for registration, Matriculation and regulations governing admission and graduation requirements. The courses for students in the college have been carefully developed to meet the National Universities Commission (NUC) benchmark for the various degree as well as prepare the students to meet the challenges of entrepreneurship hence, emphasis has been placed on proficiency in biological, chemical, mathematical and physical sciences for all students with the hope that on graduation they will be able to initiate ideas. It is our intention to build well grounded, bold and ever confident graduates that will make positive contributions to their immediate community and society at large. These ideals and the structure of this unique Islamic University means that the grandaunts will have: High standard of morality and values Entrepreneurship skills to make them the best marketable materials in the country Adequate exposure to real life situations in their disciplines and make them market ready and self-reliant immediately after graduation.
